My son and I were in a very unsafe situation until we found Family Promise. They took us in when we had nowhere to go and completely surpassed my expectations about how they would help us. I was feeling really down about our situation and didn’t know what to do, but the entire team and all the volunteers were filled with so much kindness. At first, I was just thankful to be safe and to have a place for us to breathe, but they helped us get a car, our own home (which is really close to my work and my son’s school), and even gave us a savings match when we graduated from the program. I have tears of joy as I write this.

We’re so blessed for everything that Family Promise has done for us. When we lost our house, we were caught off guard, scared, and unsure of where to turn with our two babies. We felt like we were running out of hope, but God found a way for us and through some good friends, connected us with the Family Promise team! They provided amazing care and support and accepted us as we are into their program and helped us on our journey to get back on our feet. We were helped with jobs, counseling, and even a vehicle! We moved from a situation in which we thought we’d never overcome to a new spot in life that puts us in a place that is better than before. We’re so thankful for Family Promise.

My husband and 3 children were faced with the toughest of times when we lost our home. It was devastating, and we felt as though we had failed. I prayed, and I prayed hard. We soon got in contact with Family Promise after hearing of them by Belton ISD Project Heartbeat. We were able to have a safe place to sleep, to do laundry, eat, shower, and were able to heal from the trauma we had endured. Family Promise provided us with the resources we needed so we could start anew and have hope again. Our mental health increased as well as our financial standing, because of the budgeting classes. They were so kind and helped us with our goals, our concerns, and where we were on our journey. Through everything, I was so glad that our children were safe, and that the team and volunteers were so kind to our entire family.

When we first became homeless, it was very scary. I did not know how I was going to provide for my daughter. But from the first phone call, when I talked to the staff, I was given hope. I was so encouraged and was made not to feel ashamed for becoming homeless. With help from the staff, I made a plan to get my daughter and me back on our feet. When I graduated from Family promise, I was able to have the support and help with decisions I'd been struggling with. They helped me find my direction and helped my daughter to trust people again. Our lives are so different now and we're doing really well. Being on the board of directors is a new experience, and I love our mission to help families move forward in life. I love Family Promise and am glad to be able to give back!

At a time when I felt alone and was homeless with my six children, Family Promise saved our lives. Not only was Family Promise a safe haven for my children, they provided us with a home and allowed me to be the best version of myself. The resources, support, direction, and tools their team provided were tremendously helpful. Everyone’s encouraging smiles were always comforting, and knowing I could count on them for support to help figure out the next steps was the best experience a woman in my shoes could ask for. Some of my most difficult life decisions were made at Family Promise, and I’m forever grateful.

My daughter and I are so grateful for Family Promise. While we were staying with close friends, we tried to figure out some ideas on getting a place to stay. Family Promise came in my life and did just that! They helped me find a duplex that we were approved for and paid my application fee and deposit. The time in their Shelter Diversion Program was really short because they helped us find a new home so quick, when I had already hit so many dead ends. Also, they gave us new beds and furniture that we needed and helped us move in. I’m so thankful for their team and I don’t know where we would be if it wasn’t for their help.

The Promise House was a safe haven for me and my family in a time when we really needed it. It was a stepping stone time in our lives that was perfect for the three of us. I'll always be grateful for their help. They were always encouraging and made sure that we were always safe and the positive memories will be lifelong ones for us.

Being at Family Promise was life changing for me. During a time when I needed some help and support, they came through and jumped in right away. I was provided a safe space for my child and me, and the volunteers and staff that saw the best in me helped me so I could heal and grow as a person. I was connected to very helpful resources and even got a car…this was huge for my family! I also found a good job. More importantly I gained a new sense of independence and a new motivation for life. The people at Family Promise were there for me emotionally. I felt heard and cared about during such a sensitive time in my life and that meant a lot! I'm so proud of myself for pushing myself this far. Family Promise is still there for me even though I've left, they set me up for success and picked me up when I was down. Life can be hard and it's a blessing to have Family Promise here in the community. I'll never forget them!

The team at Family Promise helped me and my kids for two months after we left a dangerous situation. They took care of us by providing shelter and amenities. Volunteers fed us and made us feel at home! I am grateful to be moving into our own place, and as someone who never asks for help, they never made us feel like a burden.

The volunteers at Family Promise were awesome and the staff was so encouraging! They worked with me to set goals and supported me in ways that would have been 10 times harder without them. I’m actually really proud of myself for finishing my LVN degree and getting a great, high-paying job, and it feels really good to get to this level…but I don’t know how I could have done it without everyone’s help. I’m most proud that my kids got to see me graduate. I’m the only one of my seven brothers and sisters who has even started college, and my oldest is saying when not if he will go to college. I feel like we broke the cycle of poverty in our family, and I’ll be there for them when my kids graduate from college.

The staff and volunteers of Family Promise are those people. They truly care and they really helped me. I am in a better place today because of Family Promise. Even after I graduated from the program, the staff helped me get a new car. I had to walk everywhere to get anything I needed for my place, my daughter or myself. But having a vehicle now is truly a blessing. I can come and go as I please to get what I need taken care of and when my daughter is sick, I don't have to wait to take her in or walk in whatever weather conditions there may be…we can go ourselves. Family Promise has been an important part of my and my daughter's life. The staff there are extremely friendly and are here to help and they have proven that time and time again. I honestly don't know where we would be today if not for Family Promise.

At one of the lowest points in my life, I found Family Promise. As a single mother who never expected to become homeless, I needed to find a safe place for my daughter and me to live so we could get back on our feet. From the first phone call, the staff at Family Promise were immediately caring and showed lots of concern for our situation. They took great care of us as soon as we arrived and helped with transportation. The volunteers were amazing for providing hot meals for my daughter and me in the evenings for dinner. My daughter and I absolutely love being in our own home again and we’re so grateful for the furniture that was donated and for all the help that we got when we moved in. I never imagined getting back on my feet in less than two months, without a job, without any money or clothes. Family Promise made sure that we had what we needed to succeed. They're truly amazing and I thank God for their kind hearts and genuine caring spirits.

Family Promise has been such an amazing experience for us! I was in a life-threatening situation and had to keep my children with me in a hotel before I found Family Promise. They provided me with everything I needed: clothes, transportation, help with goals such as social security cards, birth certificates, filing for state help, and identification. I secured a job because of their encouragement and was also amazed at how much love and care that they put into me and my boys. After they helped me find our new home, they helped us move in and provided us with furniture. It was kind of like having aunts, uncles and grandparents come together to help you start your life over. That kind of love and support is something that I have never had before. The crisis felt very overwhelming but I couldn't have asked for a better group of people or a better organization to help us through such a large transition. I am forever grateful!

Family Promise helped us when we had no one else to turn to. When we were down and out and at rock bottom, we turned to Family Promise and they gave us the tools, like how to save and use our money wisely and how to make a healthy budget. The staff set us on the right path to use those tools and gave us the extra motivation that we needed to move forward. We’re so grateful for them and for all the wonderful volunteers that we met when we were in the program, especially during such a trying time when one of our children was going through chemotherapy. One of the best things that happened to us as a family while we were in the program is that we became a lot closer as a family. I don’t know how we could have made it or where we would be today without the help of Family Promise.

We are definitely thankful for Family Promise. It was so challenging when we were homeless, and we had nowhere to go. The volunteers and the staff were so good to us. They were really encouraging and helped us find the resources that we needed to get back on our feet and find our new home. Without any other people who we can lean on for help, the people at Family Promise are really important to us. They stay in touch and come by and support us with anything else that we need.
